First Sergeant D.W. Fetterolf and Deputy D.S. Jett responded to a drunk driver complaint. The caller advised a van was swerving and nearly struck multiple vehicles before parking at the Motel 6. The caller further advised the driver exited his vehicle, went into a nearby market, and returned to the vehicle with a case of beer. First Sergeant Fetterolf easily located the work van and made contact with the driver when the driver quickly threw his vehicle into reverse. Luckily, Deputy Jett positioned his cruiser behind the van to prevent it from leaving. The driver had signs of intoxication, admitted to consuming approximately six beers, and had one of his freshly bought Modelos open in the center console. He was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.
