The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an identity theft case after a resident discovered a phone account had been opened without authorization.
According to deputies, the victim received a letter regarding a phone account established in their name. The victim immediately contacted the phone company and a credit reporting agency.
Deputies advised the victim to lock their credit and continue monitoring for any suspicious financial activity.
