Fredericksburg Man Arrested for DUI After Traffic Stop at Richmond Highway Wawa

A Fredericksburg man was arrested for driving under the influence after a deputy observed suspicious driving near the Wawa on Richmond Highway.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was traveling well below the speed limit before pulling into the parking lot. Deputies observed the driver stumbling into and out of the store before making contact.

The driver displayed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, incoherent statements, and dilated pupils. After field sobriety testing, he was arrested. Deputies later located suspected narcotics and alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle.

Kenneth Smith, 62, of Fredericksburg, was charged with driving under the influence and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. The suspected narcotics were submitted for laboratory testing.
