Two Fredericksburg residents were arrested following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of narcotics early Wednesday morning.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle after observing it run a red light. During the investigation, deputies learned the driver had a suspended license and prior narcotics-related history.
K-9 Kilo conducted a scan of the vehicle and alerted deputies to the presence of narcotics. Investigators located drugs inside the center console and inside a backpack belonging to one of the passengers.
Keith Smith, 31, of Fredericksburg, was charged with possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, along with traffic summonses for a red light violation and driving on a suspended license.
Victoria Smith, 39, of Fredericksburg, was also charged with possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance.
