The second suspect, pictured above, is still unidentified and remains at large.

On July 19, 2024, Fredericksburg police officers responded to reports of two individuals making high-value purchases with stolen credit cards at Lowe’s, located at 1361 Carl D. Silver Parkway. The suspects were reportedly buying multiple Dyson vacuums.

Upon arrival, Officer Bach observed one suspect fleeing in a U-Haul van while the other ran on foot. Officers Baugher and Bach pursued the fleeing suspect through Central Park. Officer Parker, positioned nearby, spotted the suspect as he crossed Carl D. Silver Parkway. After a lengthy chase, Officer Parker apprehended the individual.

The U-Haul driver successfully evaded capture. However, the abandoned van was later found in Spotsylvania, VA, containing numerous stolen credit and ID cards. Detective Mejia discovered that the U-Haul was rented on July 17, 2024, from Sanford, FL, under the name Salvador. The same two suspects had used the van in nineteen separate frauds between Florida and Virginia.

Bashir Salvador, 32, of Far Rockaway, NY, was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, credit card theft, credit card fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, and larceny with intent to distribute.

The second suspect remains unidentified and at large. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police at 540-373-3122. Anonymous tips can be sent via text to “847-411” with “FPDtip” followed by the tip.
