A Stafford resident lost money in a gift card scam after receiving an email that appeared to come from their employer.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the victim received an email from someone posing as the victim’s boss requesting the purchase of gift cards for employees.
After buying the gift cards and providing the card information to the sender, the victim realized the email was fraudulent.
No suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
