High-Speed Pursuit on Morton Road Ends in Multiple Charges

Sergeant S. C. Jett was traveling westbound on Morton Road when a large truck approached at a high rate of speed, partially in his lane of travel. The sergeant had to swerve to avoid a collision.

Emergency equipment was activated, but the vehicle refused to stop, continuing at high speeds before pulling into a driveway on Slusher Court. Upon contact, the driver displayed signs of intoxication, and two large cans of alcohol were visible in the center console. A firearm was also discovered concealed in the console.

After field sobriety tests, the driver was taken into custody. Benjamin Wade, 20, of Quantico, was charged with driving under the influence, driving after illegally consuming alcohol, possessing a concealed weapon while intoxicated, drinking while driving, felony eluding, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to signal, and underage possession of alcohol. Wade was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
