A Bealeton woman was arrested after deputies investigating a hit-and-run crash determined she was allegedly driving under the influence.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded after a driver reported being rear-ended while stopped at a red light. The other driver fled the scene.
Another deputy later located a vehicle matching the description while observing the driver texting behind the wheel. The vehicle displayed significant front-end damage, and the driver admitted to striking the victim’s vehicle.
Deputies said the driver showed signs of impairment and admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day. After field sobriety testing, a breath test conducted at the Sheriff’s Office showed her blood alcohol concentration was above the legal limit.
The driver, identified as 40-year-old Kristina Cole of Bealeton, was charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license, holding a phone while operating a vehicle, driving with an expired inspection, hit-and-run, and failure to obey a traffic signal. She was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
