Deputies responded to a report of identity theft after a Stafford resident was alerted by their bank about a fraudulent business application.
According to authorities, a suspect attempted to create an LLC in Charlotte, North Carolina using the victim’s personal information, including their driver’s license number. The bank placed a fraud alert on the account.
The victim was advised to contact the DMV, Social Security Administration, and Federal Trade Commission to further protect their identity.
