Deputies are investigating a jury duty scam reported on Melchers Drive after a resident was convinced to send money through Bitcoin.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the victim received a phone call from a suspect claiming there was an outstanding arrest warrant. The caller allegedly told the victim they could avoid being arrested by paying a fee using Bitcoin.
After sending the money, the victim contacted the Sheriff’s Office and learned the call was part of a scam.
No suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
