A terrifying home invasion late Saturday night has Fredericksburg Police asking for the public’s help in tracking down a suspect.
Just before 10:45 p.m. on March 29, a woman was attacked in her own home in the 1000 block of Hotchkiss Place. According to police, a man described as heavyset, around 6’2”, and dressed head-to-toe in black with a black balaclava, broke into the basement entrance of the home and assaulted the woman inside.
The victim told police the man strangled her until she lost consciousness. When she came to, the two struggled again—and she may have broken his arm while fighting him off.
The attacker took off on foot, likely heading toward the wooded area behind the townhomes in the direction of Snowden Hills. Despite efforts from Fredericksburg’s Drone Team and a K9 unit from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect wasn’t found.
Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area that night—or who may know someone with a recent arm injury matching the suspect’s description—to contact them immediately at 540-373-3122. The investigation is ongoing and being handled by the Fredericksburg Police Department’s Detective Division.
