The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office received a fraud report involving a check that was allegedly altered after being mailed.
The victim reported mailing the check, but the intended recipient never received it. After contacting the bank, the victim learned that the check had allegedly been altered and cashed by a suspect.
The victim was advised that a police report was needed for the investigation.
