Deputies are investigating after a Stafford resident reported several mailed checks were stolen and altered.
The victim said three checks never reached their intended recipients. One check was altered and cashed. The victim also reported mailing a greeting card containing cash that arrived opened with the money missing.
The bank has closed the affected account and begun an investigation. No suspects have been identified.
