Deputy Fulford conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle allegedly driving erratically on Cool Springs Road. During the stop, the driver reportedly displayed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, an odor of alcohol, and difficulty maintaining balance.
The driver admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day. Following field sobriety testing and a breath sample, the driver was arrested. Deputies later located an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. At the Sheriff’s Office, an additional breath sample reportedly showed the driver’s blood alcohol content exceeded the legal limit.
The driver was identified as Gwendolyn Carry, 50, of Philadelphia. Carry was charged with driving under the influence, drinking while operating a motor vehicle, and a traffic lane violation. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
