This morning, on February 3rd, 2024, Fredericksburg’s emergency services were alerted at around 10:30 a.m. to a distressing discovery in Hazel Run Creek. Following the report, Fredericksburg Police, alongside the Fire Department and Rescue Squad, swiftly made their way to the scene. They were joined by a detective and the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office in a collaborative effort.
By 1:50 p.m., authorities recovered the body of 22-year-old Darius Appiah from the creek. Appiah had been reported missing by the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office since January 25th, marking a tragic end to the search for the young man. The news of his identification was relayed to his family this afternoon, who have been anxiously seeking his whereabouts.
