STAFFORD, VA – A shoplifter’s attempt to steal cold medicine ended in his arrest after he tried to flee from deputies.
First Sergeant W.T. Johnson and Deputy A.J. Charoenthep responded to Weis Market after a male suspect stole medicine without paying. Emboldened by his success, the suspect returned for more but was caught by deputies.
He attempted to jog away but was quickly apprehended. Officers discovered he was intoxicated, and he resisted arrest before being detained.

- Obstruction of justice
- Public intoxication
The suspect was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
