Deputy Vaughn responded to a shoplifting complaint Monday evening at the Kohl’s store in Stafford Market Place.
Employees reported that a suspect entered the store and placed several clothing, jewelry, and skincare items into a shopping cart. The suspect then visited the fitting rooms twice for extended periods of time. When the suspect exited, the bag they were carrying appeared larger and the cart contained fewer items.
The suspect later purchased a single item at checkout before leaving the store. When employees inspected the fitting rooms, they discovered multiple removed tags and two clothing items that had been left behind and were covered in vomit.
Using surveillance footage, the vehicle description, and the name provided during checkout, Deputy Vaughn identified the suspect as Rachel Baltzell, 35, of Stafford. Deputies later made contact with Baltzell and recovered the stolen merchandise, which was returned to the store.
Baltzell was charged with shoplifting and released on a summons.
