Deputy Floirendo responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart on Washington Square after an employee observed a suspect bypass all points of sale with unpaid merchandise.
The employee followed the suspect outside and confronted them about the items. Deputies later made contact with the individual, who admitted they had made a poor decision.
The suspect was identified as Jalen Kelly, 24, of Colonial Beach. Kelly was charged with petit larceny and released on a summons with a court date.
