Stafford County Resident Injured in Accidental Shooting on Lafayette Boulevard

On the evening of June 30, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., an accidental discharge of a firearm occurred in the 300 block of Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg. The incident resulted in a self-inflicted injury to a male who was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The individual involved has been identified as Quincy Lamar Alexander, 42, of Stafford County. According to a witness who was walking downtown at the time, a gunshot was heard before Alexander exited his vehicle and collapsed on the ground. The witness immediately contacted the Fredericksburg Police Department’s E-911 Communications Center and provided initial medical aid until officers arrived on the scene.

Upon arrival, officers took over the medical assistance until EMS could transport Alexander to a hospital for further treatment. Detectives investigating the scene discovered a firearm inside the vehicle, along with suspected narcotics. It was determined that the firearm discharge was accidental, leading to an injury in Alexander’s lower body.

Following the investigation, several warrants were issued for Alexander, including charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Schedule I/II Narcotic, Possession of a Firearm with a Schedule I/II Narcotic, Reckless Handling of a Firearm, and Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place.
