Deputy Oloye responded to a fraud complaint involving a sophisticated phone scam impersonating Wells Fargo representatives and federal agents. The victim reported receiving calls claiming their account had been compromised and was instructed to withdraw money and deposit it into Apple accounts.
After following the instructions, the victim later learned the activity was fraudulent after speaking with legitimate bank representatives. The victim also notified the FTC and Social Security Administration regarding the scam.
