A Stafford County resident reported losing money in a banking scam after receiving a telephone call from someone claiming to represent Navy Federal Credit Union.
Deputy Ryan responded to the fraud complaint on Bradbury Way.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the caller claimed there was suspicious activity involving the victim’s bank account.
The suspects instructed the victim to transfer money into an account controlled by them.
After completing the transfer, the victim contacted their bank and learned that the call had been part of a scam.
The sheriff’s office reported that no suspects had been identified at the time of the report.
