During his duties as School Resource Officer, Deputy J.M. Smihal was informed that a student had fashioned a shank out of a pencil. The student intended to stab another student in retaliation for a previous day’s altercation. The makeshift weapon was seized, and the student was charged with threats of bodily injury and possession of a weapon on school property. The student was detained at the Juvenile Detention Center.
