A Stafford County resident reported losing money after clicking a suspicious link that allegedly compromised an email account.
The victim told deputies that after the account was compromised, suspects requested payment to fix it. The victim transferred money, but the suspects then demanded additional payments.
The victim contacted law enforcement. Authorities said no suspects have been identified.
