Deputies responded to a fraud complaint involving a text message scam targeting a Stafford resident.
According to the report, the victim attempted to wire money to a suspect after receiving the scam message. Fortunately, the victim’s bank detected the suspicious activity and alerted them before the transaction could be completed.
The victim contacted their bank for further details regarding the attempted transfer. At this time, no suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
