The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fraud complaint involving unauthorized bank transactions reported on Hillcrest Terrace.
Deputy Sharp responded after a resident reported receiving an email from their bank indicating that a replacement card was being issued. When the resident contacted the bank, they learned that fraudulent activity had been detected on their account, prompting the bank to issue a new card.
The resident subsequently reviewed their account and discovered additional unauthorized transactions involving the replacement card.
The victim notified both UPS and their financial institution about the situation.
Authorities reported that no suspects had been identified at the time of the report.
